London is one of our favorite cities. From its rock'n'roll roots to its cozy pubs, to its swanky restaurants to its fun street fashions, there's never a dull moment in old London Town.
where to eat
- BRAT - Shoreditch or Hackney. Both are great!
- The Barbary - Covent Garden.
- Dishoom on Carnaby Street serves up fresh food, Bombay-style.
- Tres Cay (the original one in Hoxton Shoreditch!).
- And of course, it's not London without High Tea. We love The Ritz London or the Palm Court at the Langham.
- Cecconi's in Mayfair (this recently advanced to our ALL-TIME favorites category)
- Zephyr on Portabello Road...contemporary Greek with enough of a classic touch to satisfy.
where to drink
- The Chilthern Firehouse is trendy, sexy, and cool- be sure to ask about the "secret room."
- The White Horse, a quintessential British pub.
- The Marksman in Hackney, upscale pub vibes wiht a convenient location.
- Maison Assouline for a coffee or a martini, depending on the time of day...hell, maybe both.
- Satan's Whiskers is as dangerous as its name- and it's right across from our new favorite digs, Town Hall Hotel.
where to stay
- Nomad London
- Town Hall Hotel in Bethel Green - it's close to the baby, close to the tube, with amazing corner apartment bedrooms and a gorgeous pool. Could easily live there.
Mama Shelter - ShoreditchMama closed, but we have to leave her up out of respect.- The Langham
where to shop
- Liberty London now and forever.
- White Bull Retro in Hackney... scores include a leather swivel club chair that was used in a James Bond movie, a metal hedgehog figurine, an Italian ceramic leopard...and green glassware...bamboo hangers...just to name a few.
